Ten letters, A, D, V, E, N, T, U, R, E and S, spell ADVENTURES. Inside those same ten letters sit shorter words too: VENTURE and TUNED both come out of the same set. This finder runs that search on any ten letters you give it.
How to use it
- Type your letters, up to ten, in any order.
- Add a
?for a letter you don't have yet. - Set a pattern if you already know several spots, or leave the field blank to see the full
range of results.
- Read the list, most common words first, with a meaning next to each one wherever our data
has it.
Ten letters is a wide net
At this length a single set of letters can build a surprising range of words once you widen the search past exactly ten characters. If your first result is thin, drop the length filter a few notches. VENTURE and TUNED, both shorter than ADVENTURES, are exactly the kind of result a wider search turns up.
Letters versus a pattern
The two fields answer different questions. Letters alone are a pool: give the finder your full set and it checks every arrangement for a real word, the way VENTURE and TUNED both come out of ADVENTURES with no other input needed. A pattern is stricter, returning only words that match the exact spots you set, whether the rest of your letters are locked in or left open. Explore with letters alone first, then bring in a pattern once a crossword or another puzzle has already confirmed a few of the positions.
Tips for a ten-letter search
Type everything, even if you're unsure of a letter or two. Extra letters don't hurt the search, they just widen what's possible.
Lean on the pattern field for known spots. A ten-letter search with even two or three fixed letters cuts the results down a lot.
Scan past the first result. The most common word tops the list, but a less common one further down might be the one you actually need.
