How to play
- Type any six-letter word and press Enter.
- Read the tiles:
- Green: right letter, right spot.
- Yellow: the letter is in the word, in a different spot.
- Gray: the letter is not in the word.
- Find the word within six guesses.
Repeated letters follow one rule: each letter in the answer can only color one tile in your guess. If the answer has one R and you guess two, only one of them lights up.
Why six letters plays differently
In a five-letter game, a good first guess can rule out a large share of the alphabet quickly. Six letters gives you one more tile of information per guess, which sounds like an advantage. The catch is that there are many more six-letter words, and they share common endings like -ER, -ED and -LY, plus double consonants in the middle. Two or three words often fit your clues right to the end.
That makes planning more important. A guess in the middle of the game that tests several possible letters at once is often worth more than a guess that might be right.
Tips for six-letter words
Use two vowels in your opener, but not five. A first guess needs a couple of vowels to find the word's shape, and enough consonants to find its sound.
Check the common endings early. If E and R are both found, the answer may end in -ER. One guess can confirm or rule it out.
Look for the double. Words like BETTER or COFFEE (examples, never answers here) are why a found letter might need to appear twice. When the board stops making sense, a double letter is usually the reason.
Do not chase the answer too soon. With three or four candidates left, choose a guess that separates them, rather than guessing them one by one.
Keep the keyboard in view. Gray letters on the keyboard are your cheat sheet for what not to type.
