TTile Streak

How to play

  1. Type any five-letter Italian word and press Enter.
  2. Read the tiles:
    • Green: right letter, right spot.
    • Yellow: the letter is in the word, in a different spot.
    • Gray: the letter is not in the word.
  3. Find the word within six guesses.

Repeated letters follow the same rule as every game here: each letter in the answer can only color one tile in your guess, however many times your guess repeats it.

Why a Italian word game is not just a translation

Swapping the word list for Italian changes more than the vocabulary. Italian words often end in a vowel, so the last tile is a vowel far more often than it is in English, which is worth building into your opener. Players who are fluent in Italian will notice these patterns immediately. Players who are learning will find the game doubles as light practice: matching sound and spelling, one guess at a time.

The page itself stays in English. Instructions, buttons and messages are the same as every other game on Tile Streak. Only the hidden word, and the words the game accepts as guesses, are in Italian.

Tips for playing in Italian

Open with a common letter shape for the language, not an English habit. A strong English opener is not automatically a strong Italian opener. Letter frequency is different enough that it is worth building a separate favorite word for this page.

Watch accented letters closely. A tile for an accented letter is scored as that letter, not its plain version, so mixing the two up costs a guess.

Use the game to build vocabulary, not just to win. Because the hidden word is always a real Italian word, working through the colors is also a way to see how the language is put together, one word at a time.

Do not translate the clue in your head. Think in Italian while you are narrowing the word. Translating back and forth after every guess slows you down and can hide a pattern that would be obvious in the original language.

Keep the keyboard in view. Gray letters on the keyboard are your cheat sheet for what not to type, in any language.

Play it more than once if you are learning. A single round teaches you one word's worth of patterns. A few rounds in Unlimited, back to back, start to show you the shapes that repeat across many Italian words, which is where the real vocabulary benefit shows up.

Who this page is for

Two kinds of players tend to land here: people fluent in Italian who want the same daily habit they already have in English, and people learning Italian who want practice that feels like a game rather than a drill. Both get the identical mechanic. The only thing that changes between them is how much guessing comes from vocabulary versus pattern recognition, and that balances out over a few rounds either way.

Daily and unlimited

The Daily Italian word is the same for everyone today and counts toward your streak. When you finish, share a grid of colors, with no letters in it.

Unlimited gives you a new Italian word every time. It never touches your streak and never uses an upcoming daily word.

Questions

Is the Italian word game the same rules as the English one?

Yes. Five letters, six guesses, and the same green, yellow and gray colors. The only difference is that the hidden word and the words you can guess are in Italian.

Do I need to type Italian accents?

Type the letter with its accent where Italian uses one. Accented letters are treated as their own letters, not folded into the plain version.

Can repeated letters appear in the answer?

Yes. A repeated letter follows the usual rule: each copy in the answer colors at most one tile in your guess.

Is this a full Italian-language version of the site?

No. The page and its instructions are in English; only the hidden word and the words you can guess are in Italian. A full Italian-language site is a separate project.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. Switch to Unlimited for a new Italian word every time you finish. Unlimited games do not affect your daily streak.

Does hard mode work here?

Yes. Turn it on in Settings before your first guess and every letter you find must be used in later guesses.
